Four generations - that's how many are in this photo! Amazing, right?! Four generations of women, what a wonderful legacy all these women have created for this little lady! What a joy it is to create an image with such meaning behind it!

Sneak Peek - Soon-To-Be Senior T | Tomah Wisconsin Senior Photographer
How lovely is this young lady?! She's not only gorgeous, but she's really a joy to be around! T is our first 2013 Senior Rep and we had a blast doing her mini session this weekend! She's very friendly, and so is her mom, who came along for the session. They were so easy to work with, we ended up shooting until 9 pm when we lost the light! Needless to say, this mini session became a maxi session, but I just couldn't help myself! When us photographers get such awesome subjects in front of the lens, it's quite hard to stop shooting! Sneak Peek - C & J Wedding | La Crosse Wisconsin Wedding Photographer
Another beautiful wedding took place last week and we had the pleasure of photographing their joyous day! The neat part of this one was that it took place on a very well-know local boat, The La Crosse Queen! I can only hope to be as creative as my clients when it comes to my own wedding! C & J are such a nice couple and their wedding was so full of love, it was a joy to photograph! J, the bride, was stunning in her draped lace and sheer fabric dress, awesome blue flats, and gorgeous blue jewels, especially that necklace!
The wonderful details of their wedding were nicely coordinated too! And, you wouldn't know it by the look of it, but the bride's flowers had to be replaced at the last minute, literally about an hour before the boat left the dock! The wind came up and whipped them into the Mississippi, but the bridesmaids and moms were quick to act and get a replacement bouquet in the nick of time!
With a wonderful group making up the wedding party, it was really a wonderful event! The best part of our job is getting to know all the great people we work with and this crew was no exception - they were all awesome and so cooperative, helping to ensure the most amount of amazing images in such a short time!
There were some tearful toasts from the brides sisters, who were co-maid-of-honors (don't ask who is #1 and who is #2 - that was left humorously undefined!) and the best man, who was the groom's father. Also, we were given a piece of the cake by the bride's mom and it was absolutely delicious (raspberry filling and all)!
The boat sailed into the night with the whole crowd dancing on the top deck! There was even a lovely, nearly-full moon to top off the photos! Plus, this couple have an amazing story of survival and triumph, which made the appearance of the groom's Live Strong band very special! We couldn't have asked for a better couple weekends and a better set of couples to kick of our 2012 wedding season!

Sneak Peek - Little E | La Crosse Wisconsin Child Photographer
There is just something about the big, innocent eyes of little ones that just draws me in! They're so honest and unassuming, full of kindness and simplicity; lately, I've become quite addicted to this type of close portraiture, especially with kids. This little lady was no exception, with her stunning brown eyes and subtle smile. Plus, she has an absolutely wonderful personality to accompany her gorgeous curls and lovely face! Sneak Peek - D & L Wedding | La Crosse Wisconsin Wedding Photographer
What a wonderfully fun wedding I photographed last weekend! It was a great way to kick off a full wedding season! You may remember D & L from their engagement shoot last year (see the blog posts here). They had such an awesome idea for their wedding; a 1920/30s Bonnie & Clyde theme! So, along with their engagement photos adhering to this theme, so did their wedding. And what a hit it was, their guests even came dressed to match the time period! We began our day with the gorgeous bride L as she prepared the finishing touches on her vintage inspired look. A little side note, her wedding ring contains an Opal stone (if I'm not mistaken) making is very unique to her.
Then, it was time for the ceremony. Last Saturday was so incredibly stormy, with bright lightning bolts stretching towards the ground from the dark clouds every few minutes. Things had to be moved indoors, so the wedding party and all the guests wouldn't get soaked, but it worked out perfectly! There was even some "modern" influences as the groom's father used his cell phone to capture the moment.
The ceremony and reception both took place at Boothill Pub in La Crosse, WI. But, in between the two main events, we took family photos before the wedding party gathered onto a comfortably large limo for transportation to a secondary location. One of L's bridesmaid was excellent at making sure everyone's make-up was in tip-top shape for photos! Candid moments like these two really make for wonderful memories on a day that seems to fly by.
We had originally planned to visit Riverside Park for some group photos, but, with the not-so-lovely weather, we instead sought shelter in the Tavern in The Waterfront Restaurant, also in La Crosse, WI. Quick thinking on the groom, D's part, lead to this location, which was well-suited, almost perfectly so, for their theme!
Then it was back to the reception, where it was non-stop fun! The DJ guided some fun activities for the couple during the bouquet toss and garter toss. There was even a mandatory dance by the groom before retrieving the garter, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed and at which D did a great job!
And finally, we worked with the couple during their planning stages to set up out Inside-Out Photo Booth during the reception as a way to get photos of all their guests and to use as thank-yous afterwards. Some relatives created a wonderful backdrop, mimicking a prison processing backdrop, and the couple provided fun props too! By the end of this day, my cheeks were killing me from all the laughing I did with this group and their guests! (Also, don't you just love this vintage processing to match the theme; although, we do have many more photos in full color and black and white as well!)

The Doll Series | La Crosse Wisconsin Photographer
These two lovely young ladies are actually cousin's of mine who live in Ecuador! I so rarely get to see them and they are, as you can see, absolutely gorgeous; I take advantage of their visits to the US to work on my latest series whenever I can! You may recognize the first young woman from a previous series I did of Greek Mythological Women. Her younger sister (to the right) is transforming into a beautiful young lady and this is the first time I've had a chance to get her in front of my lens for some modeling! They also have a brother, but he preferred to stay behind the scenes, helping me set up backdrops, move lights, etc. I'll get him to pose for me, one day! Sneak Peek - The K Siblings | Onalaska Wisconsin Family Photographer
I absolutely love the completely unpredictable nature of portraiture! Especially when it comes to working with kids, there is just no way of knowing what will happen next! These three were so funny too! With literally only a split second between the two images above, we went from a gorgeous, relaxed, posed shot to a wonderfully chaotic, very candid moment! Both images are special and beautiful in their own way, which is another perk of my job. I edit the images I take, which means I get to see stories such as this unfold again on my computer screen! If you were ever around during my editing process (which I usually do alone or with my assistants) then you'd hear me laughing out loud as I relive the session! I've been told by many a parent (and grandparent, aunt/uncle, etc.) that they do the same thing as they enjoy their proof site; laughing, sighing, even crying (in the best way possible) as they relive all the memories of the day! Sneak Peek - The Good Character Award | Onalaska Wisconsin Event Photographer
I was asked to photograph as wonderful award ceremony this afternoon in which one special student was awarded the Good Character Award. This event is through Momentum Financial Group and currently hosted by Irving Pertzsch Elementary School. The program began last year, after Doug Baumann (President and CEO of MFG) and his wife Kay, along with their associate Brent, came up with a great plan to reward local students for positive behavior and outstanding citizenship! When I photographed the event last year (check out the post here) a deserving young lady won. This year, it was a very awesome young man! All in all, a very special award that sends a great message from a wonderful local business!

Sneak Peek - The K Siblings | Onalaska Wisconsin Family Photographer
Are these not the cutest bunch of kiddos you've every seen?! Lovely Little O (the first little lady in the series above) was by best friend during the session - which I loved! Every now and then I meet these young ladies who are so much fun to chat with, I get to hear all about their social lives (Little O told me about her friend in preschool) and their big life achievements (she lost that tooth on the bottom row recently, on Mother's day). And what a great helper she was, looking after her little brothers so her mom wouldn't have to split herself in half as one guy went one way and the other one a different way! Baby I, (the little guy in the middle of the series above) is only 9 months old and was just as content as could be through most of the session (until the very end, an hour is quite a long time when you're so little)! But, look at the size of those giant eyes - adorable! And finally, Little E (the last little guy of the series above), who is only 22 months old, was so full of energy! He was so funny, sneaking off every chance he got, making sure I got my exercise chasing after him! But, also, look at those amazingly long lashes he's got - I'm jealous! Anyway, despite it being a SUPER warm day, it was quite a fun way to spend an afternoon in the park! La Crosse Wisconsin Baby
