{M & L Engagement} La Crosse Wisconsin Wedding Photographer

We met with M & L near Riverside Park in La Crosse, Wisconsin for their engagement session during a very, very warm day!  We were able to avoid the rain, but the humidity followed us through the entire session.  But this wonderful is so in love, they don't even look like the warmth was a bother in their images.  We'll be photographing their wedding later this year and it was great getting to know them a bit more!  We even discovered that she'll be getting a whole new ring for her wedding set - that's a lucky woman!

{The Lovely Miss L} Tomah Wisconsin Senior Photographer

Oh.  My.  Gosh!  How gorgeous is this lady?!  We had the pleasure of spending some time over the holiday weekend with her and the rest of my husband's family (she is my brother-in-law's girlfriend).  Of course, I couldn't resist asking her if she'd pose for me and my camera!  (Everyone in my family and many of my friends have discovered that, at some point in their relationship with me, I will ask them to model for me!)  She has these gorgeous tattoos on her shoulders/back.  She's also a very organic person, enjoying nature and the Earth's offerings.  So naturally, when the inspiration of natural styled images struck, she was the first one I turned to!  We spent about 30 minutes before her shoot doing some natural, nude based make-up and a lovely french braid that swept rather haphazardly along the back of her head and fell into a low side ponytail over her shoulder.  I was so happy how feminine and smooth her look was and how her stunning green eyes blended with the amazing foilage we found in Tomah, Wisconsin!  All in all, she was a happy model and I was a happy photographer!

What big eyes this little lady has!  She is just such an adorable little lady.  This is the second time Little R has visited the studio with her family and it's always such fun when they stop by!  Big brother D is just too cute too - with those cute dimples when he smiles!  This time, mom got a few head shots she needed for business as well, so we had quite the robust session.  All in all - wonderful visit from a  wonderful family!

A dog can be such a wonderful part of a family and we love working with these furry folks!  Biggie (seriously, the perfect name) was more than content to stay in mom's arms.  But after we took advantage of the early part of the session to capture these guys with their furry family members at their home, we moved to another outdoor location to get a few more shots.  They were awesome at pretending there was no cold and no wind and it made for a wonderful session!  We love getting the chance to meet our clients at their homes and create very personalized images - all in all, very fun session!

Sneak Peek - Soon-To-Be-Mom (Again) S | La Crosse Wisconsin Maternity Photographer

What a beautiful family soon-to-be-mom S is creating!  With the amazing amount of patience and love she shows her first son, I am sure S and her husband will be amazing parents to their next little boy.  I also got a sneak peek at the name as we included it in a couple photos, but I've been sworn to secrecy!  Plus, doesn't she just look amazing?! With just over a month to go until her due date, her tummy is baby and only baby! I can't wait to meet their newest family member as soon as he arrives!

The Dog Spa | West Salem Wisconsin Photographer

The lovely ladies of Marcie's Pet Spa in West Salem, WI are at it again!  With a move to a larger location just across the street from their old spot (Leonard St.) and a major expanse in staff, they are growing faster than the pooches they groom and care for can chase a Frisbee!  We not only have been bringing our dogs to visit Marcie for quite some time, we also work with her business for our annual pet portrait charity event, Jingle Bark.  After the blast we had creating their staff photos (literally, the laughing you see in the photo on the right was all natural - no prompting required), we sat down for a few minutes to organize this year's Jingle Bark!  We'll release more information about that soon, but until then, make sure all you dog owners check out Marcie's Pet Spa - awesome people who do an awesome job with our furry family members! Four generations - that's how many are in this photo!  Amazing, right?!  Four generations of women, what a wonderful legacy all these women have created for this little lady!  What a joy it is to create an image with such meaning behind it!

The Mom | Onalaska Wisconsin Portrait Photographer

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there, but especially to mine - the best of the best!  For all of you who don't know, that's my mom (pictured above).  Her name is Susan.  She's a teacher by trade who currently offers private tutoring services.  She has a true passion for helping kids learn and is highly trained in the OG (Orton-Gillingham) method of teaching students with Dyslexia.  Just the way I feel about photography, she feels about helping struggling readers better their grasp of the English language.  Through her efforts, she has helped many students (and their families) regain their confidence in education and grow into extremely successful young adults.  She has such an absolute motivation in doing her part to ensure the success of the next generation; it is quite inspirational!  I know that I wouldn't be where I am without her and for that I am so very grateful!  Helping with flash cards for spelling tests in elementary, proofreading reports in high school, assisting with the writing of cover letters in college; having an English teacher for a mom definitely has some perks!  So, thank you mom for all that you have done, all that you continue to do, and all that I know you will do!  I honestly believe that I couldn't have asked for a better mom!

Sneak Peek - D & L Engagement | La Crosse Wisconsin Engagement Photographer

The snow photographs gorgeously and it's always a blast to get a chance to get out and take some shots - but I'm usually too much of a winter-wimp to actually expand my portfolio much during this season.  However, when I get a couple that wants to brave the low temperatures for some fun shots - I can't resist!  We were actually set to do this session earlier in the year, but rain caused us to reschedule.  As numb as my fingers were and as red as my cheeks were at the end of the day, we got a bunch of great photos for D & L's  engagement session!  What a wonderful couple and there was so much love to be seen through my viewfinder!

Despite the nippiness yesterday, D & L still managed to pull off an awesome 1920s themed session!  She was dressed to the nines in an awesome flapper dress and fishnets and he had a pretty smooth suit on!  And we were outside the whole time for this one!  We used the gorgeous old brick walls that La Crosse is filled with and just had fun with this half of the shoot!  Now all I have to do is find some great music to edit to - I'm thinking the Chicago soundtrack!

I just love engagement shoots!  They're so fun, free, and full of love!  It's always so great to work with a couple who truly enjoy being with one another and it always shows so clearly in the images!  Plus, we get to get really creative and a bit silly at times in finding ways to show off their feelings! 

Sneak Peek - B & J Engagement | La Crosse Wisconsin Engagement Photographer

What a wonderful day we had today with this couple!  We photographed an expo for 95.7 The Rock, then took off to meet with B & J, a couple who just booked a wedding with us.  They were so fun to work with - relaxed with a sense of humor, it was great!  The sky was slightly overcast, the temps were higher than they'd been all week, and the outfits they choose matched beautifully with the woodsy feel of late Fall.  It was kind of like a photographer's dream come true!  Other than all the awesome photos we got, I had a bit of a crazy afternoon!  I realized when I got to my studio that I had forgotten all my camera cards at home with my laptop.  Then, I got done shooting the expo and realized that I didn't bring along my socks for the boots I had to change into.  I think my memory is slipping!  But, nonetheless, things ended up working out and it was a quite a fun day/evening!

The Calendar Shoots - Ms. A | La Crosse Wisconsin Commercial Photographer

A while back we did a bunch of shoots for 95.7 The Rock's annual charity calendar to benefit The Rock Foundation.  It was such a blast!  We worked with an awesome group of lovely models and got to shoot at a bunch of fun places!  It was really a neat experience and a great way to utilize the skills we don't get to use as much with the kiddos and such - our senior photography skills came in much more handy for this type of assignment!  This one has kind of a funny story with it - I locked my keys in the car right before the shoot and had only grabbed my camera plus one flash before closing the door so we were getting creative!  I think I should lock away more of my equipment every day!  Kidding, luckily I grabbed what I really wanted to use anyway, but it was a bit of an adventure!  =)  Anyway, we'll slowly be putting up some of the best images, including a bunch of the ones featured in the calendar.  This was from the first of 12 shoots (when it was still warm enough to stand in the water) and we can't wait to share more as time goes on!

Sneak Peek - Miss S & Miss J | La Crosse Wisconsin Glamour Photographer

Lovely S & J stopped by last weekend for a shoot and we had a blast together!  They are best friends (I get the feeling they've been friends for quite some time) and they are just too much fun to be around!  Plus, they were so open to all these fun ideas I've been wanting to try out and they were the perfect people to do it with!  My mom gave these butterflies to me for my studio a while ago and I was just waiting for the right chance to use them.  I think I may need to get some more!  I almost forgot just how much I enjoy glamour photography, so I'll have to start pursuing that a bit more from now on!  Anyway, I'm enjoying working on these two lovely ladies' images just as much as I enjoyed photographing them!  I hope they stop in again soon!

Sneak Peek - The Bubble Gum Besties | West Salem Wisconsin Glamour Photographer

How fun are these two?!  These two best friends visited us today in the studio!  We had a bit of difficulty with the bubble gum (it was in the air conditioning and it was a bit hard to chew) but sore jaws aside, they blew some awesome (and some not so awesome but equally fun) bubbles!  We also did a ton of other fun shots, so stay tuned!  We even got some butterflies in the action!  I'm so excited to work on them and these girls were just great to work with!

What a wonderful wedding this was!  You can just see in this image how much fun the entire wedding party was having and don't you just love those colors!  (I may be a bit biased - teal and brown are my favorite colors!)  The images are coming along great and with such a beautiful couple, it makes my job even easier!

Sneak Peek - Mommy-to-be N | West Salem Wisconsin Maternity Photographer

Believe it or not, this photo session took place on this mommy-to-be's due date!  Luckily, she made it through the shoot and there's still no sign of the little one!  Her little girl is going to be so welcomed into this wonderful home; she already has a closet full of tiny little pink clothes and tons of tiny little shoes!  I can't wait to meet her and hopefully create some images of her!  Her parents are great people and I'm sure she'll be just a happy little lady!  Thanks for letting me document the last few moments of such a precious time in life N & J!

The Greek Reinterpretation | Wisconsin Model Photographer

I had a blast working on this project!  It's a general reinterpretation of women in Greek Mythology.  The model I worked with was so great too!  We put here through tons of wardrobe, make-up, and hair style changes and she didn't complain once!  I can't wait to work with her again, but I'll have to wait for her to get back to the US (she spends half her time in Ecuador)!
