This lovely little lady in this lovely little dress has quite the neat story behind this gorgeous garment! As her mom told me, this is her Christening gown that was handmade for her by one of her grandmothers. But, as if that weren't awesome enough, this gown was made from her mom's actual wedding dress! Even the pale green ribbon came from the original wedding dress! What a wonderful idea. By the time Baby P is old enough to get married, her mom's dress will most likely be out of style, which means that it may never get worn again - just left in storage for the rest of time. Now, she'll have a beautiful and meaningful baby gown that she can pass down through generations and generations, keeping the love and memory of her parent's marriage in the family forever! Don't you just love that idea!
Because of the wonderful tradition this family has started and the beautiful vintage quality of the dress (that normally accompanies Christening gowns such as this), I just couldn't resist a little antique posing! Baby P worked wonderfully with me as well. There's such a doll-like quality about her little face and pose. I just love creating images that are very unique to the individuals in the images - it's part of my mission as a photographer and something, I believe, that sets an image apart from the rest. In this image, I can just imagine the generations of women that came before her, and those who will come after her, wearing this beautiful dress!
