Sneak Peek - Baby P | La Crosse Wisconsin Baby Photographer

This brand new baby came to visit my studio today.  She was so new that she wanted to stay all curled up most of the time and spend the session sleeping (and eating!).  But she did have these long legs that never seemed to stop moving - they even startled her out of her slumber once or twice!  Plus, she even got a little philosophical with the ancient proverb she acted out for us!  She'd definitely going to be a smart little lady!  All in all, she was quite exciting for only being 5 days old!

Sneak Peek - The K Sisters | La Crosse Wisconsin Child Photographer

It's that time of the year again!  There's a bit of a chill in the air, the fireplaces are turning on, the leaves are beginning to drop... Fall is here!  And Fall ushers in the holiday season!  This is my favorite time of year - despite the not-so-nice weather!  For those of you familiar with my style, I'm not usually a big prop person (I believe in clean design and photographs that will last a lifetime, uncluttered with passing trends and free to show the true personality of those in the image).  But, that doesn't mean that every now and then we can add a few shots to the session with some fun set-ups!  I couldn't resist this little Fall set up that's new to our studio!  Plus, when a little ladybug and tiny caterpillar come through the door, there's just no stopping the giggles!

Sneak Peek - The A Family | Onalaska Wisconsin Family Photographer

Isn't this little guy just too cute looking up to his big brother like that?!  They did a bit of fishing during this photo shoot, got their toes (and almost up to their knees) wet in the river, and probably took home a bit of sand, but we definitely had some fun!  I have a sister and I think it's just so wonderful to capture the sibling bond in my photographs.  Through all the bickering, siblings are built-in best friends!

The Unlikely Clients | La Crosse Wisconsin Photographer

Believe it or not, this family was much trickier to pose than any of my other clients!  It's not that they were too rowdy or goofy.  Nor was it that they weren't very flexible with their ideas.  They were just a bit stiff in front of the camera.  Kind of like four sticks in the mud.  Please excuse the ranting, I absolutely love all my other clients, but these guys, not so much!  However, we made it through and ended up with a bunch of fun photos!  Now, if I could only get the splinters out of my fingers...

Sneak Peek - A Family | Onalaska Wisconsin Family Photographer

What an amazing compliment and joy it is as a photographer to photograph a family year after year!  I've been able to photograph this family for three years now (they were my first Wisconsin client after we relocated) and it's been so much fun watching the kids grow and capturing all the new memories from each session!  The A Family are always up for a little adventure during their session, so we oftentimes do some pretty cool things - playing hockey in the basement one winter, climbing up a giant boulder the past year, getting our toes wet this time around... I can't wait to see what next year brings!

On a side note, if you haven't already noticed, I enjoy clean design and simple images that show off the true personalities of the people in front of my lens.  Many times, my images work wonderfully with a square crop (like the one above).  The gorgeous thing about a square crop is that it looks wonderful in a large size on a wall!  When it's framed with a thick mat around it it really pops.  It's even strong enough to stand on its own, without a frame, as long as it's large enough to hold it's own on the wall.  Anyway, I just had to spread a little info about square crops and why I love them!

Sneak Peek - A Family and M & K Wedding | La Crosse Family and Wedding Photographer

What a busy week we've been having!  We did a few family shoots, photographed a wedding, and worked on some shoots for Coulee Parenting Connection!  My camera's smoking from all the action it's been seeing!  But, it's such a wonderful feeling to be busy like this - meeting all these great families, kids, babies, brides and grooms, etc.  I love photography for this exact reason; getting to know all the people I get to meet is so much fun!

Sneak Peek - Sisters M & E | La Crosse Wisconsin Child Photographer

While doing some shoots for the upcoming issue of Coulee Parenting Connection, I met these two sisters.  They're only two years apart, about the same as my sister and I!  They were too funny together!  Big sister M was along for little sister E's shoot, but we couldn't resist pulling her in for some joint shots and a few silly faces!  I know that having a sister who is close in age is so wonderful and despite the bickering that ultimately occurs, it's having a built in best friend for life!  I got the feeling that these two are just as close as my sister and I and I hope to get the chance to photograph them again!

Sneak Peek - M & K Wedding | La Crosse Wisconsin Wedding Photographer

Congratulations to M & K on their gorgeous wedding this weekend!  They beat the rain, cool temperatures, heavy thunder, and a little flash flood to have a wonderful wedding.  If they can make it through the craziness that was the weather then they can make it through anything!  We managed to stay dry by taking advantage of the church and walkway to the reception for photos and even found a few seconds to sneak away with the happy couple for a few shots in a little candy shop downtown!  (More sneak peeks coming soon!)  All in all, quite an fun adventure with a very fun couple!

Sneak Peek - The A Family | La Crosse Wisconsin Family Photographer

What a fun little guy we had in the studio today!  Him and his grandpa were pretty fun in photos together too - there's quite the size difference!  We were going to do our shoot outdoors, but there was a not-so-nice storm last night (it knocked out power for a bit) and the dark, rumbling clouds just kept hoving over the park we wanted to go to.  The on and off rain forced us to make the decision to go into the studio, but it worked out great!  Little A even got to open a super cool birthday gift (a little drum) during the shoot and we got a few shots of the budding drummer!  All in all, fun day!
